POWDER SLOPES

FRESH POWDER SKIING ON DOUBLE BLACK PISTES

Fall in love with freeride. Experience the thrill of fresh powder skiing without heading into the backcountry. Keep an eye on your Powder Alert. When the snow arrives, it’s time for freeride.

Following big snowfalls, the slopes MAGU, GESSI BASSI and FEMMINILE BASSA (see on the map) will not be groomed for a single day. Skiers will be able to ski in the fresh snow experiencing thrilling descents on powder in complete safety.

The Powder Slopes are thought to enable skiers to approach to freeride safely. They are the perfect place for those who want to try the freedom of freeride but they don’t have the expertise or technique to go in backcountry. In the Powder Slopes the snow is linear, the gradient is not high and the avalanche danger is almost null. Furthermore, they are constantly supervised by the Rescue Team of the Mountain, which is ready to take action in case of need.

SKI-ALP TRACK

REACH THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN ON YOUR OWN.

Challenge your body strenght on 1000 meters vertical. Go beyond the treeline and cross wide areas of natural snow. Reach the peak of the Mountain on your own.

The Ski-Alp Track is suitable for expert athletes and it starts from the flat area in between the Carosello 3000’s gondola station and Plaza Placheda. The track is completely signed by the classical oranege and blue poles and it goes firstly into the wood with some deep uphills. After the treeline the track continues with a downhill section until the middle station of the gondola. From here the route goes into the wide backcountry between the Polvere and the Centrale slopes until arriving at the top of the Mountain.

Coming down we suggest to use the slopes near the track (all the slopes close at 5pm). For those who want to reach the town in freeridem, we remind to have with you the self-rescue kit (artva, pole and shovel) and to check the avalanche bulletin.

HELISKI

Ski where mountain and sky meet

The mountain doesn't end at the top of the skilifts. Take your freeride experience to greater heights. Access the resort's wildest peaks by helicopter. Experience what it's like to ski across immaculate open spaces away from the usual off-piste routes. Heli-skiing is a special experience fot freeride lovers.

The heliski experience takes off from the top of the Carosello 3000 San Rocco gondola (no.11-12 view on the map). Before the activity there is a briefing with participants to explain the plan for the day and provide basic safety information. Throughout the experience you will be accompanied by a UIAGM Alpine Guide.

FREERIDE SKIING

Fresh powder, great friends and wild adventures. The best recipe for your Mountain escape.

Unleash your adventurous spirit in the backcountry. Discover vast open stretches of immaculate snow. Get close to nature. Know the risks and how to stay safe.

Carosello 3000 is your gateway to an expanse of fresh powder. From wide open spaces on the edge of the pistes to tough backcountry terrain and peak-top skiing overlooking the valley - whatever your skill level there is somewhere for you.

Carosello 3000 Livigno strongly advises freeride lovers to:

- only leave the marked piste areas if you are well aware of the risks and how to deal with them;

- plan your routes in advance to avoid finding yourself in remote areas where it is difficult or even impossible to descend;

- take part on the courses and tours organised by the Outventure Livigno and contact the guides even when organising your own trips;

- always carry the necessary rescue equipment with you (avalanche transceiver, snow shovel and probe) and know how to use them;

- use protective gear and carry an avalanche airbag;

- always check that your avalanche transceiver is working properly at the check-points at the top of the Carosello 3000 San Rocco gondola and Federia chairlift;

- always check the local avalanche forecast.

FREERIDE APPROACHING AREAS

Interested in having a go at off-piste skiing? There are two very low-risk areas on the mountain where you can get a taste of freeride without all the risks of the backcountry.

The “Freeride Approaching Areas” are completely surrounded by pistes and offer uniform terrain with very low avalanche risk.

Warning: Off-piste skiing is a dangerous and risky activity. Carosello 3000 S.r.l. does not accept any responsibility for accidents or injuries which occur outside the marked pistes.
